Workshops include the following modalities necessary to connecting deeply with horses in relationship, thought and movement.

What is Intuition?

Horses are masters of attunement, authenticity, and intuition and can teach us how to attune and strengthen our intuition. I can think of a better partner than the horse to teach us and show us the way!

Intuition is the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. It is something that one knows or considers likely from instinctive feeling rather than conscious reasoning. This means we feel before we think about what we are feeling and what we feel is a subconscious, unconscious knowing.

Just a muscle needs activation and growth, so does our intuition. Intuition needs conscious attention and cultivating.

Trusting our intuition is how we live authentically and live our best lives. Our knowingness and awareness will expand the more we hone this skill, listening to our intuition and with that, our path going forward will be easier to see and navigate.  Decisions will come easier and so will living a harmonious life. The first step is being aware, conscious, paying attention. From there a conscious evolution will take place that will naturally develop.

According to Dr. Orloff, scientists believe intuition operates through the entire right side of our brain, the brain’s hippocampus and through our gut (digestive system has neurons as well). And this is where it gets interesting for us ladies.

Women’s corpus collosum, the connective white matter that connects our left and right brain hemispheres together, is thicker than men’s. This more substantial brain superhighway gives us women better and faster abilities to access each hemisphere, further integrating our emotion and gut feelings with the more logical left hemisphere into our decision-making process.

Basically, women’s brains have superpowers and are optimized for rapid intuitive decision making. “Women are also psychologically more in touch with their emotions (perhaps because they’ve been given more cultural permission to be this way) and are more likely to integrate hunches, emotional ‘hits’ about people and logic. Because men have a thinner corpus collosum they are more compartmentalized in their thinking and less about to move back and forth from intuition to logic.”

Attunement is the ability to connect with another’s experience empathetically, mindfully, and somatically. It is mindful engagement of the emotional, somatic, and cognitive sensing that is used together to help us tune into, connect to, another in the moment.

Attunement is also the process by which we form deeply connected and meaningful relationships.

Dr. Dan Siegel says, "When we attune with others, we allow our own internal state to shift, to come to resonate with the inner world of another. This resonance is at the heart of the important sense of “feeling felt” that emerges in close relationships. Children need attunement to feel secure and to develop well, and throughout our lives we need attunement to feel close and connected.”

Attunement might look like an adult seeing a baby crying, recognizing that the baby is hungry, and then picking up the baby to feed her. In an adult relationship, attunement might be an adult who knows that “I’m fine” doesn’t actually mean that and digs a little deeper to find out what’s going on.

When working with kids, attunement comes across as genuinely caring about them. It’s not just asking about their day as a courtesy, but truly listening and caring about their response. It’s about noticing when a kid comes into the room in a bad mood, or when they’re unusually quiet, or when they’re struggling to focus.

Same goes for our horses. If you know horses are sentient beings, you know they have deep feelings and need close relationships to feel emotionally, physically, and socially secure.

Attunement is how we develop our intuition. The clarity of your mind, body, and spirit creates a pathway to your heart’s intuitive wisdom. It provides a profound shift that helps you approach situations with more emotional balance, compassion, clarity, and personal confidence.

The following four practices help us attune and develop our intuition:

  1. Grounding, centering stilling ourselves

  2. Sensory awareness

  3. Meditation

  4. Somatic Experiencing & Embodiment

Mindfulness

Like other reflective practices, mindfulness is an amazingly powerful tool to self-actualization, transformation and living in harmony.

Mindfulness teaches us to be present and aware of what is happening in our body and mind. It allows us to explore beliefs, perspectives, and experiences in a thoughtful and considerate way, stimulating information (feedback), new insights and intuitive understandings.

The workshop provides specific mindfulness practices that develop awareness and attunement, teaching you how to listen to your intuition, connect easily, communicate clearly, and trust ourselves and others.

During this transformational process, you learn specific heart-mind-body practices designed to teach you how to align and synchronize with horses - become one in heart connection, thought and movement.

The following modalities are included in the workshop, teaching you everything you need to know to develop deep and meaningful connections, relationships, intuition, communication, confidence, harmony, well-being, and consensual partnership with horses!

Entrainment & Synchronicity

Aligning Energy, Heart & Intention

Entrainment is defined as the adjustment or moderation of one behavior either to synchronize or to be in rhythm with another behavior. We can experience entrainment when our hearts, mind (thoughts), and body (movement) connects to another being such as our horse.

I refer to this experience, phenomena, as connection because it is a somatic experience, one that is felt and simultaneously connected within the body, the heart, and the mind.

The science behind this phenomena shows the effects positive and negative experiences have on our nervous system and the way in which the energy of flight, fight, freeze or rest travels through our heart, our gut, and our brains.

Emerging science reveals that working with your horse’s energy naturally aligns and synchronizes our nervous systems, creating feelings of calm, connection, and safety for both.

During this process endorphins are released, creating feelings of ease, clarity, and over-all well-being for both horses and people.

Understanding the science helps guide us to ways in which we can intentionally, purposefully, and mindfully engage with our internal energy, our life force, our chi. This is how we can begin creating and nurturing deep and powerful connections with horses and on so many levels.

The benefits of working with our energy and our horse’s energy are many. Connecting with our horses in this way creates the following:

  • The deepest connections and on many levels: emotional, mental, cellular, chemical, and physical.

  • Feelings of ease, peace, clarity, and well-being.

  • Connection, communication, and consensual partnership.

  • Releases stress and tension and replaces it with calm and relaxation.

  • Energetic space for both horses and humans to connect and heal each other.

  • Emotional agility and self-regulation.

  • Elimination of behavioral issues and stressors.

  • Fluidity, balance, and ease.

  • And so much more!

There are three ways in which we can use our internal life force, our chi energy to connect to others including our horse’s energy: Energy Work, Chakra Work and Somatic Experiencing.

When combined they work best when it comes to connecting deeply, developing horses, and healing and restoring spirit, relationships, and well-being.

Energy Work With Horses

Energy Work

Energy work is a traditional healing system that restores the balance and flow of energy throughout the body, mind, and soul.

Energy work can be described as dramatic shifts in healing happening and being recognized.

We are a latticework of energies; these energies shape how we feel, think, and live. Energy therapists combine acquired knowledge and intuitive understanding of body energies in various modalities that offer healing and well-being.

Energy work is holistic by nature and works directly with balancing the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of wellness and overall well-being. An energy worker accomplishes this by finding and addressing what causes the disturbance of the energy in the body and restores balance and flow.

When energy within the human and equine heart, mind and body is balanced, the healing and restoration is complete.

This masterclass workshop teaches you how to find the cause and heal the heart, mind, and body.

Chakra System

Chakra translates to "wheel" in Sanskrit, and you can imagine them like wheels of free-flowing positive energy. They are described as spinning disks of energy that when balanced are “open” and aligned. These spinning disks of energy correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being.

There are seven main chakra energy points in our body and eight within the horse. The seven chakras are the main energy centers of the body.

When all our chakras are open, energy moves through them freely, and harmony exists between the physical body, mind, and spirit.

A blocked chakra means our energy, or horse’s energy, is stuck in a particular chakra or chakras.

Blocked chakras affect our, and our horse’s, emotional and physical well-being.

sensory awareness so we can understand the language of Equus
and connect and communicate with our horses in a language
they trust, respect, and understand.

Somatic Experience

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing aims to restore the body’s ability to self-regulate and achieve balance and integrity.

It was developed by Peter A. Levine, PhD to address the effects of trauma. Levine developed this approach after observing that prey animals, whose lives are routinely threatened in the wild, can recover readily by physically releasing the energy they accumulate during stressful events.

On the other hand, humans along with unhappy animals, often override these natural ways of regulating the nervous system with feelings of shame and pervasive thoughts, judgments, anxiety, trapped emotions, and fears.

Along with energy work, Somatic Experiencing aims to help people, and animals, move past the place where they might be “stuck” in processing a traumatic event.

How It Works
The autonomic nervous system (ANS), which includes the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS), and the enteric nervous system (ENS), is triggered into action when we’re faced with adversity and it governs the fight, flight, or freeze instinct.

Although designed to be self-regulating, the ANS can become dysregulated, particularly when full expression of one’s response to trauma is repressed. As a result, the body continues to respond as if it is under threat.

Somatic experiencing contends that negative symptoms of trauma—such as anxiety, hypervigilance, aggression, and shame—result from denying the body the opportunity to fully process the traumatic event.

Most people, and horses, who experience traumatic events do not recover completely, and continue to live with unresolved trauma which often leads to larger mental and physical health concerns, such as posttraumatic stress (PTSD), sleep problems, mood swings, displacement behaviors, anxiety, depression and auto-immune issues.

This masterclass workshop not only teaches you how to connect and communicate with horses the beste way, but it also includes a transformational process that aids in healings, restoration, and well-being.

The path to achieving this is shown through tangible, step-by-step exercises. The exercises are designed to develop the following skills within you while developing the relationship you want to achieve with horses. You will learn how to:

  • Use meditation and energy to connect, communicate, and be congruency within and with others.

  • Become a horse listener, not just a horse whisperer.

  • Deepen your awareness so you can attune and tune into yourself, your horse, and your environment.

  • Create the space and hold the space for healing, connection, and well-being.

  • Connect and communicate with horses by strengthening your intuition, instincts, and sensory awareness.

  • Think, feel, and move as one with your horse through energy connection and embodiment.

  • Read and understand a situation correctly and what to do with that information.

  • Create true, consensual partnership with horses.

  • Embody the 6 qualities of a trusted and respected leader.

  • Create deep connections and conversations with your horse so you can talk about it rather than argue or fight about it.

  • Develop the level of trust, confidence and safety needed for both horse and human to want to be together and work together harmoniously

  • And, so much more!
