our wellness approach

Horses are masters of sensory awareness and emotional intelligence. These innate qualities allow them to live a life that resonates with clarity, balance, intuitive presence and consciousness. We can learn so much from them if we just slow down, center ourselves and listen with our hearts, our eyes and our bodies. Our programs at the Bodhi Wellness Center not only help you develop a deeper sense of self, they teach you how develop your self-awareness and purpose, giving you the tools to release past trauma, heal old wounds, get in touch with your personal power and fulfill your potential.

Caroline and her equine school masters will teach specific mind-body practices that will assist in developing a deeper intuitive consciousness within you and between you and your chosen horse. This level of consciousness is called Chakra Conscious®. Chakra Conscious® is the most amazing and powerful gateway to discovering and nurturing a deeper understanding of one’s self, way of Being, living and connecting to the world around you.

The Process of Releasing, Healing and Rehabilitation

Most of us have experienced hurt, sadness, levels of discomfort and deep trauma in our lives.

When the hurt, sadness, level of discomfort or trauma is repeated over time it can lead to PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

PTSD is debilitating and like a disease it eats away at our very core, making us feel like a victim and most of all powerless to live our lives to the fullest.

Research has shown that certain species, like the horse, are capable of suffering from loss and levels of trauma or PTSD. An example of PTSD in a horse would be an extreme behavior or over reactivity to situations and stimuli that cannot be changed through traditional or conventional training methods.

I have worked with thousands of horses suffering from some level of trauma or PTSD. As an energy practitioner I have been able to help each one overcome their fears and not only trust again, but most importantly regain inner balance, well-being and harmony within themselves.

I have achieved this through my own method of rehabilitation using Chakra Conscious® techniques and meditative exercises.

Both practices use rhythm which is meditative by nature by producing dopamine and endorphin – the “feel good” hormones. When horses and humans are stressed, they produce cortisol which creates adrenal, the hormone that is in control of self-preservation and survival. When too much adrenaline is produced and for too long of a period, the adrenaline hormone begins to destroy the natural chemical balance within our brain’s neurochemistry.

Neurochemistry is responsible for regulating emotional responses. If the neurochemistry is imbalanced it will affect the nervous system which controls the ability to self-regulate stress hormones and calming hormones. If either one of these is imbalanced, we produce a series of chemical and neurological changes within the brain that are directly related to our emotional, mental and physical well-being. This is where rhythm and energy come into the rehabilitation process.

Rhythmic exercises rewire the neurochemistry within the brain which is in control of stress response. Rhythm also rewires the neurochemistry and nervous system, thus overriding the stress hormones with calming, feel-good hormones.

I not only use these practices to rehabilitate horses, I have designed them to rehabilitate people suffering from trauma and PTSD. Chakra Conscious® is the technique I use to rehabilitate and was developed by me as a guide to personal attunement, self-alignment and harmony. When we achieve these states of Being, we are living our life fully, with purpose and with joy.

The first step to achieving harmony and balance within begins with self-awareness. Working at liberty with horses helps you achieve this state of awareness. Horses are natural co-facilitators when it comes to showing people who they are, how they truly feel, where they are emotionally and mentally.

The next step is developing the person’s ability to tune into and attune – bring into accord, harmony or sympathetic relationship with another. Horses are naturally harmonious and at “one” with their environment. Their ability to become quiet, be still and listen allows them to tune in, become attuned. This quality is what allows horses to naturally adjust to their surroundings, thus live harmoniously.

The third step to living life authentically and to it’s fullest is found within Mind Mapping. This is a technique that helps you look at the many areas, or pieces, affecting your life - areas that get in the way, keep you from achieving your goals or living your life fully. Mind Mapping is a great tool for personal development, business development and horsemanship and is used as a guide or road map for achieving your goals.

About Chakra Conscious

The first step

There are seven main chakras within the human body and eight within the equine body. Chakras are points in the body that correspond to a specific area where multiple nerves crisscross, engaging powerful energies. It is believed that, through meditating on these specific Chakras, you can learn to control the energy in your body and experience everything from spontaneous healing to enlightenment. Chakra Conscious® not only educates you about the power of Chakras, it assists you, and your horse, in experiencing the positive power of healing and connecting that Chakras can bring to your life and your relationships...

Becoming Attuned

Being attuned means to bring into harmony, flow and awareness. When people and horses are attuned they are emotionally aware, balanced and in harmony within and with life around them. This means they are emotionally at ease, confident and flexible. I also refer to this as a state of Being emotionally agile.

One of the secrets to achieving this zen-like way of feeling and living is again through rhythm and energy balance....
