Individual Lesson & Tao of Horsemanship Clinics
Training & Education for the Whole Horse & Rider

The Tao clinics offer horses and their human partners a learning experience that is both experiential and holistic in its approach to teaching, training and problem-solving.

Whether you need to start, rehabilitate, or advance your horse, the Tao method will show you how – every step of the way.

Caroline has worked with thousands of horses and people which has given her the ability to help any horse and human no matter what discipline, skill level, background, or behavior.

She knows a thing or two about biomechanics and is very knowledgeable and practiced in the areas of lunging, classical dressage, hunter jumper, reining, ranch versatility, obstacles, trail riding and balanced riding. She is also a certified Working Equitation Instructor and trainer and includes the foundational principles of dressage in everything she teaches.

Whether you are new to horses, coming back to horses or an advanced rider or professional, Caroline’s method is designed to assist and enhance you and your horse’s learning journey all the way through.

Her experience has given her a deep knowledge and master skills when it comes to specializing in relationships, rehabilitation, and foundation. With a focus on feel and timing, she can help any horse and human transition into a partnership where both become one, move as one and ride as one.

2-Day Tao of Horsemanship Intro Level I Clinic

Do The Tao Now and Become One™ with Your Horse

No riding at the intro level and no prior horse experience necessary. This clinic is an entry level into Caroline’s Tao of Horsemanship training method. It is designed to improve any horse and rider, discipline, age, and experience.

This clinic is the foundation of Caroline’s Riding as One™ method and will teach you specific heart-mind-body techniques designed to transform you and your horse’s relationship, connection, and partnership.

Caroline guarantees that no matter what your challenge is, this clinic will teach you what you need to know so you can achieve the dream relationship and consensual partnership needed to be, move and ride as one with your horse.

You will begin by learning Caroline’s 3 core principles to her amazing method. These 3 principles will create a deeply connected, thinking, relaxed, confident, and self-regulated horse and in everything you do together.

Like any foundation, learning the basics, the building blocks are essential when creating lasting change, progression, and partnership - everything you and your horse need to build trust, feel safe and confident.

In addition to learning how to use these principles, you will learn how connection, communication and clarity can open the door to all things possible with horses.

2-Day Tao of Horsemanship Level II* Clinic

Do The Tao Now and Move as One™ with Your Horse

This clinic is phase two of Caroline’s Riding as One™ foundation and is designed to take the heart-mind-body connection taught in level I into the biomechanics of movement, Caroline’s Art of Lunging.

Caroline’s Art of Lunging is Pilates for horses and their riders. In addition to learning a classical approach to developing movement, you will also learn a form of Tai Chi called calisthenics: gymnastic exercises designed to achieve embodiment, unison and grace of movement.

When classical principles, calisthenic and energy work are infused, you create a deeply connected, emotionally agile, self-regulated, and balanced horse – inside and out.

This is a full circle approach to developing the riding horse and the rider
in true connection, communication, and safety.

What a great way to learn how to ride the movement from the ground up, while developing your horse’s movement before you ride.

In addition, you will be developing an emotionally agile, self-regulated professional athlete who is happy, balanced and eager to be with you and move with you.

2-Day Tao of Horsemanship Level III* Clinic

Do The Tao Now and Ride as One™ with Your Horse

This clinic is phase three of Caroline’s Riding as One™ foundation and is designed to take the heart-mind-body ground connection and lunging techniques taught previously in Caroline’s level I and II clinics and into your riding so you and your horse can feel the magic and Ride as One™

There will be a review and warm up of clinics I and II each day to prepare for permission to ride and if you and your horse are not ready, you will work to restore conversation and confidence together.

At this level, all riding exercises and techniques are done slowly, with an emphasis on connection, communication, clarity and with feel and timing.

As the late great master horseman Jack Brainard often said in his advanced horsemanship clinics, “You must learn the steps and the rhythm of the dance before you add the speed.” This means we will be spending our time diving into the mechanics so we can develop both the connection and biomechanics in both horse and rider so you can think and move as one.

Main riding exercises will include suppling; Pilates under saddle (warm up and stretching); straightness training; w/t/b transitions; renvers/shoulder-in, travers/haunches out; figure eight patterns; obstacle course.

Clinic Details

Clinics are kept small with a maximum participation of eight. This ensures more time with Caroline and a higher level of learning for both horses and their humans.

No matter what your challenge, or goal, is with your horse (trauma, ground, or riding), the clinic is designed to assist in teaching you what you need to know to work together, resolve issues easily and make lasting change.

Participants receive the following upon registration:

  1. Workbook: You are required to review the workbook before your Zoom meeting and clinic.

  2. Meet & Greet: Pre-clinic goal setting Zoom meeting. Caroline will email you to schedule.

No children under 12 or stallions accepted. All horses must be healthy and UTD on hoof care, health certificates and vaccines. Must show UTD vaccine and certificate upon participant registration and before you can bring your horse.

Daily Schedule

The daily schedule is 9-5 with a lunch break.

Clinic Format

Participants are divided into 2 groups each day. Each group receives 4 hours of hands-on work with Caroline. While one group is working with Caroline, the other group will be auditing. The group/auditing format works great because it ensures maximum intake, dwell time, processing, and learning for both horses and their humans.

Both groups will be learning the same principles, exercises, techniques, and approaches to partnership and problem solving. If your group is waiting their turn, you can either audit, or Caroline will give you a specific skill, technique, to work on quietly until it’s your group’s turn.

Daily Group Format

Please be ready with your horse, tools and equipment, 15 minutes before your group’s lessons. Each group will be following the workbook and outlined exercises.
